Scope and who is responsible

This policy applies when you visit TempSMTP.uk, generate or use a temporary mailbox, read or delete a message, download a supported attachment, browse our articles or submit a request through the contact page.

For the purposes of applicable data-protection law, the person or entity operating TempSMTP.uk is responsible for deciding how personal information covered by this policy is processed. Privacy questions and requests can be submitted through our Contact page.

Third-party websites where you enter a temporary address, and people or organisations that send messages to that address, process information independently. Their privacy practices are not controlled by TempSMTP.uk.

2. Information we process

2.1 Website and security information

When you access the website or mailbox service, our hosting, content-delivery and security providers may process standard request information. This can include your IP address, approximate network location, browser and device type, operating system, requested URL, referring page, timestamps, response status and security events.

This technical information is generally generated automatically by internet infrastructure. It is used to deliver pages and API responses, maintain reliability, investigate errors, enforce rate limits and protect the service against spam, attacks and other misuse.

2.2 Temporary mailbox information

When a mailbox is created, the service processes the temporary address, selected domain, creation time and expiry time. It also creates an access token used to authorise requests for that mailbox. The service stores a cryptographic representation of the token rather than needing to retain the readable token in the mailbox database.

The readable token and current mailbox details may be stored in your browser so that you can refresh the page and continue accessing the same inbox until it expires. Anyone who obtains valid mailbox access information may be able to view the mailbox during its active lifetime, so you should not share it.

2.3 Incoming email and attachments

Messages sent to a temporary address may include the sender and recipient addresses, sender name, subject, timestamps, message headers, plain-text or HTML body, attachment names, file types, file sizes and supported attachment content. This information is supplied by the sender, not necessarily by the person using the mailbox.

The service may parse, sanitise, truncate or reject parts of a message to display it safely and remain within technical limits. Depending on service configuration, a limited raw MIME source may also be stored temporarily. Very large messages or attachments may be rejected, truncated or unavailable for download.

2.4 Contact and support requests

If you use our contact form, we process the name, reply email address, topic and message you provide. Depending on the WordPress and Elementor configuration, the submission may be emailed to support, stored in the WordPress administration area, processed by an SMTP provider, or a combination of these actions.

Please do not include mailbox access tokens, passwords, payment details, identity documents or sensitive personal information in a support request.

2.5 Information you choose to provide

The core temporary mailbox does not require a user account, profile, permanent email address or password. If you voluntarily communicate with us, report abuse or exercise a privacy right, we will process the information needed to understand and respond to that request.

3. Why we process information

We process information only where it is reasonably connected to operating, protecting or improving the service. The main purposes are to:

Create temporary addresses and authorise access to active mailboxes

Receive, store temporarily, parse and display incoming messages

Allow users to refresh an inbox, open a message, download supported attachments or delete data

Maintain availability, troubleshoot faults and understand technical performance

Detect spam, automated abuse, malicious traffic and prohibited activity

Apply rate limits, access controls and other security measures

Respond to support, privacy, legal and abuse reports

Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Use

3.1 Legal bases

Where the UK GDPR, EU GDPR or similar laws apply, processing may be based on performance of a service you request, our legitimate interests in operating and securing TempSMTP.uk, your consent for optional technologies, or compliance with a legal obligation. The appropriate basis depends on the information and purpose involved.

Our legitimate interests include providing a functional temporary mailbox, preventing abuse, maintaining network and information security, diagnosing failures and responding to users. We consider the short-lived nature of the service and the reasonable expectations of users when relying on those interests.

4. Browser storage, cookies and similar technologies

The mailbox interface uses local browser storage to remember information such as the current temporary address, access token, selected domain and expiry time. This makes it possible to refresh or revisit the page in the same browser while the mailbox remains active.

You can remove locally stored mailbox information by using the delete or change-mailbox controls where available, or by clearing the site data in your browser. Clearing local storage may remove your ability to access an active mailbox even before it expires.

WordPress, security, consent, analytics, advertising or embedded-content tools may use cookies, pixels or similar technologies if those features are enabled on the website. Essential technologies may be used to provide security and core functionality. Where consent is legally required for optional technologies, a consent mechanism should be presented before they are activated.

Your browser settings may allow you to block or delete cookies and local storage. Some parts of the service may not work correctly if essential storage is disabled.

5. Mailbox confidentiality and content risks

TempSMTP.uk uses access controls intended to prevent unrelated visitors from reading an active mailbox without the correct temporary credential. However, temporary email is not an end-to-end encrypted communications service, secure document vault or permanent private account.

Email itself can travel through multiple systems before reaching us, and senders control the contents they transmit. We cannot guarantee that a message, link or attachment is accurate, safe or free from malicious content. Treat unexpected links and files cautiously and never use the service for secrets or information whose disclosure could cause harm.

Some websites prohibit temporary email or may refuse to send messages to known disposable domains. TempSMTP.uk does not control those decisions or guarantee that any third-party sender will accept an address or deliver a message.

6. Retention and deletion

6.1 Temporary mailboxes and messages

Mailboxes are created with an expiry time shown by the countdown in the interface. The current default is approximately ten minutes, although the configured lifetime may change. The displayed countdown is the best indication of how long a particular mailbox is expected to remain active.

Messages and supported attachment data are associated with the temporary mailbox. Expired mailboxes and their messages are removed through automated cleanup processes. Cleanup may occur shortly after expiry rather than at the exact second shown, but expired data is not intended to remain available to users.

You may be able to delete an individual message or the entire mailbox before expiry. Once a mailbox or message has been deleted or has expired, it is not designed to be recovered.

6.2 Technical records

Security, diagnostic and infrastructure logs may be retained separately for a limited period determined by operational needs and the settings of our providers. These records may remain after a mailbox expires because they support fraud prevention, incident investigation, service reliability and legal compliance.

6.3 Contact records

Support, privacy and abuse correspondence may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary to answer the request, maintain a record of the response, prevent repeated abuse and meet legal obligations. Contact-form retention should be reviewed periodically in WordPress and relevant email systems.

7. Service providers and disclosures

We may use service providers to operate the website and temporary mailbox infrastructure. Depending on the final website configuration, these can include:

Cloud hosting, database, email-routing, content-delivery and security providers

WordPress hosting, backup and website-maintenance providers

Email or SMTP providers used to deliver contact-form notifications

Analytics, consent or advertising providers, if those services are enabled

Professional advisers and authorities where disclosure is legally required

Providers may process information only to deliver their services to us and under their own contractual and legal obligations. We do not sell the contents of temporary mailboxes or contact messages.

We may disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law, respond to valid legal process, protect users or third parties, investigate abuse, enforce our Terms of Use, or defend legal claims. We may also transfer relevant information as part of a genuine business reorganisation, subject to appropriate safeguards.

8. International data transfers

Internet infrastructure and service providers may process information in countries other than the one where you live. Those countries may have different data-protection laws.

Where applicable law requires safeguards for an international transfer, we will rely on an approved legal mechanism such as an adequacy decision, contractual clauses or another valid transfer basis provided by the relevant service provider.

9. Information security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures intended to protect the service, including temporary access tokens, token hashing, limited mailbox lifetimes, transport encryption, request validation, rate limits and automated cleanup. No website, database or email system can be guaranteed completely secure.

You are responsible for keeping temporary mailbox access information private, using a trusted device and network, and closing or deleting an inbox when it is no longer needed. If you believe the service is being abused or a security issue affects TempSMTP.uk, please contact us promptly.

10. Your choices and privacy rights

Depending on your location and the law that applies, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability or objection in relation to personal information. You may also have the right to withdraw consent and complain to a data-protection authority.

Temporary mailboxes do not use user accounts and expire quickly. We may be unable to identify which mailbox belonged to a particular person, verify a request or recover data that has already expired or been deleted. We will not ask you to disclose a live mailbox token merely to prove identity unless it is necessary and safe to do so.

To make a request, use the Contact page, select “Privacy request” and describe the information or processing involved. We may request limited additional information where reasonably necessary to verify the request.

11. Automated decision-making

Automated security controls may rate-limit, reject or block requests that appear abusive or technically harmful. TempSMTP.uk does not use temporary mailbox content to make automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects about users.

12. Children

The service is not directed to children who are below the minimum age required to consent to an online service in their jurisdiction. We do not knowingly request profiles from children. A parent or guardian who believes a child has submitted personal information through the contact form may ask us to review and delete it where applicable.

13. Third-party websites

Our pages and incoming emails may contain links to independent websites. We are not responsible for their content, security or privacy practices. Review the privacy information of a third party before giving it personal information or downloading a file.

14. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the service, providers, legal requirements or data practices change. The date at the top identifies the latest published version. Material changes may also be highlighted on the website where appropriate.

15. Contact and complaints

For privacy questions or requests, use the Contact page and select “Privacy request”. Please do not include confidential message content or a live mailbox access token unless support specifically explains why it is required.

If applicable law gives you the right to complain to a supervisory authority, you may contact the data-protection authority in the country or region where you live or work. We encourage you to contact us first so we have an opportunity to address the concern.

 .tsmtp-page,.tsmtp-page
